Here we have a Stratocaster that is special in many ways. First of all its great look catches the eye: Black over Shoreline-Gold with a not at all subtle heavy relicing. Combined with a wonderfully aged maple neck this results in a noble, classic appearance with a very special character. Furthermore this Strat comes with "Eldred Designed" pickups and the corresponding wiring. Mike Eldred, well-known guitarist and former director of the Fender Custom Shop, had his special pickups manufactured by Seymour Duncan and combined them with an S1 switch, which increases the variety of tonal options enormously by allowing the addition of a variable 12dB boost. Playability here is top notch: tried and tested 60-Style Oval-C neck profile, 9.5'' radius and 6105 frets combined with the stripped neck back ensure a fluid, comfortable playing experience. Sound-wise no wishes are left unfulfilled here: played clean, very open, lively, pearly and clear. And when distorted, the sun really comes up, especially when using the boost, which can be used to change the Stratocaster's singlecoil sound in the direction of a humbucker sound giving the Strat incredible tonal versatility.
