Fender Stratocaster 57 Super Heavy Relic Masterbuilt Levi Perry (2023)

...and yet another awesome Strat from the new shooting star of the Fender Custom Shop! Levi has also hit the mark with this super heavy reliced mapleneck in “Aged Surf Green”. Another work of art that bears his characteristic signature in every respect. Perfect features when it comes to great playability: 9.5'' fretboard radius, “60 Style Oval C” neck profile with stripped back and the proven Narrow/Tall frets. You want to have this Stratocaster in your hand, you just whizz across the fretboard, it's fun! But you also like to look at this instrument, because the traditional “Beach Boys” finish is a feast for the eyes, ...or rather what remains of the finish. Levi didn't waste any time here and didn't limit himself to the usual hairline cracks and minor blemishes. This Strat looks as if it has actually been in the presence of Rory Gallagher or Stevie Ray Vaughan for too long. Of course this insane look also benefits from a “roasted” alder body, which not only has visual but also tonal advantages. Even when played dry the guitar is wonderfully resonant and loud. And it shows its full potential when played through an amp! The “Handwound 57” pickups on the neck and in the middle and the “Handwound Fat 50” on the bridge bring the wonderful sound of the 50s back to life. As is typical of a mapleneck the guitar has plenty of attack and percussiveness, but also provides more than enough warmth and substance for crunch and even heavily distorted sounds. From super-clean to dirty-bluesy, the Stratocaster really covers everything and always shows its own 50's character. A 100-point Strat with which Mr. Perry can once again completely convince us.
