Boom, ...John Cruz did it again! There's no other way to describe how you feel as soon as you open the case of this amazing guitar. A crass heavy relicing that doesn't leave much of the noble black finish behind. The whole thing is phenomenally rounded off by the gold-coloured anodized pickguard, gold hardware and black pickup caps and pot knobs. This is not only an extraordinary idea, it also looks really good. And this '57 Strat is definitely a dream for every friend of 50's mapleneck Strats. The combination of pickups alone is one of the best that has ever left the Fender Custom Shop: “Handwound Fat 50‘s” on the neck, “Handwound 69” in the middle and the fantastic “Handwound JC Fat 50’s” on the bridge, which was specially developed by John Cruz. Exactly the right set-up to get all the classic Strat sounds in top form: earthy, expressive, ideal for the perfect Blues sounds. With great warmth and fullness the guitar produces an outstanding bell tone, round and pearly, yet defined and certainly with the typical attack of a mapleneck Strat. In addition, the slightly thicker “Large C” neck profile (.875-.950'') plays extremely comfortably in conjunction with the proven 6105 frets and the 9.5” fingerboard radius. The guitar comes to its future owner in top condition except for minimal traces of play on the first frets. He can consider himself really lucky, because unfortunately after Cruz' departure from the Custom Shop such delicacies as this Stratocaster are becoming increasingly rare.
