What a killer Strat! This 1957 Heavy Relic Stratocaster by Dale Wilson, which we can offer you in mint condition, was a special order from Musikhaus Hermann. Jörg Hermann designed this guitar together with Dale Wilson and hand-selected the very special woods used. Hence the name “The Wood”! Both visually and sonically simply a reference Strat! Beautiful “2-Tone Sunburst” with a Heavy Relicing that is second to none: by no means subtle with countless hairline cracks and quirks, as well as abrasion in the right places. The fantastically flamed AAAA maple neck is a perfect match with its “60 Style Oval C” profile, 9.5'' fingerboard radius and stripped back, making it extremely comfortable to play. You won't want to put this extremely resonant super-lightweight (only 3120 grams!) down, especially not after you've heard it. The handwound “Fat 50's” bring the wonderful sound of the 50's back to life. In typical Mapleneck fashion the guitar comes with a lot of attack and percussiveness, but also provides more than enough warmth and substance for crunch and even heavily distorted sounds. From super clean to dirty bluesy the guitar really covers everything and always shows its own 50's character. 100-point Strat! And since the waiting times at Dale Wilson are now more than ten years and he is not accepting any further orders at the moment, such an exceptional Strat will not be available again so quickly. The certificate and spec sheet misleadingly state that this Strat is a “Closet Classic”. This is due to the fact that Dale Wilson only decided to relic it - as the final icing on the cake, so to speak - after he saw what an extraordinary guitar with an exceptional sound and incredible weight he had created here. As a special treat he handwrote the words “Relic” and “I have the Wood” on the spec sheet. Yes, Dale, you absolutely do have the wood!
