We are normally rather cautious with “tinkered” guitars. But with this beauty in “Candy Apple Red” we had to go for it! The previous owner knew exactly what he wanted: an exact clone of David Gilmour's legendary “Red Strat”. Like the master himself he used one of the first vintage reissue Strats built at the Fender factory in Fullerton from 1982 to 1985 as the basis. Just like Gilmour he completely replaced the pickups and electronics with a set of EMG SA pickups from 1988, including EXG and SPC controls. These originals are very hard to come by today, but deliver exactly the fat active pickup sound that you know from Gilmour's performances with his Red Strat. The neck is an absolute dream - more on the slim side, but with enough curve to sit comfortably in the hand. New jumbo frets were recently added. A pure joy for minute-long solos, just like the original! We are delighted to offer you a complete package that is unlikely to be available on the market a second time, because every component is extremely rare: a Strat from this year in “Candy Apple Red” is hard to come by as are the original EMG electronics. This guitar should therefore be a unique opportunity for every Gilmour fan! Apart from a few charming quirks and irregularities in the varnish the guitar is in top condition. And to make the clone perfect, it even comes with a short tremolo arm as Gilmour plays it. The original pickguard with the original pickups is also included.
