Since 2010 Paul Waller works as a masterbuilder for Fender and built guitars for Bono (U2), Keith Richards, Buddy Guy and also the Nile Rodgers "Hitmaker" Strat. This 56 Strat Journeyman Relic here is a masterpiece in its own right. The extremely flamed neck alone with the very pleasing natural finish on the back is a stunner. The sound of the guitar is another highlight. Played dry it is extremely direct, resonant and honest. The Fender 56 handwound Josephina Custom Shop pickups bring exactly this sound experience across electrically. From Hendrix on the neck pickup, Clapton in the middle and Southern twang on the bridge, everything is on offer here. John Mayer typical in the postion 2 - no problem! And in the fourth position "Sweet Home Alabama" is as authentic as crunchy Bryan Adams riffs. The neck has a slight V-profile - not noticed while playing, only while reading the specsheet. So very subtle. Also used here is a lightweight ash body and a Treblebleed at the volume pot. The guitar is in top condition. Top Masterbuilt level with best sound and playing characteristics.
