Fender Stratocaster 55 Relic Limited Masterbuilt Todd Krause (2005)

Clapton's “Brownie” sends its regards...

On hold

Fender Stratocaster 55 Relic Limited Masterbuilt Todd Krause (2005)

On June 24, 1999, Eric Clapton's “Brownie”, which he played regularly at countless gigs between 1970 and 1999, was auctioned off for charity at a price of $497,500. This guitar was purchased by Clapton in London in 1967, it was his first Stratocaster ever and he used it to record his debut solo album, which is generally regarded as his most famous album and his musical peak achievement. 14 years later the Fender Custom Shop honored the legendary instrument by having Eric Clapton's preferred masterbuilder Todd Krause produce an Eric Clapton “Brownie” Tribute Stratocaster, limited to 100 specimens worldwide. Of course this edition was sold out immediately and only a few pieces rarely appear on the second-hand market. Fortunately Krause built a few limited edition models the following year, which were equipped with almost the same features: a classy 2-tone sunburst finish, subtle relicing and “Handwound Fat 50s” pickups with the characteristic sound character. These limited-edition Strats also impress with their excellent playability. The neck with its “55 Medium” profile is extremely comfortable to hold and in combination with the 9.5'' radius and the proven Medium/Jumbo frets is first-class to play. Of course the sound is immediately reminiscent of Eric Clapton: the sounds of “Layla” or “Key to the Highway” virtually burst out of the Stratocaster: wonderfully open, sparkling, pearly and clear. We are delighted to be able to offer you this exclusive guitar in top condition.
