Joe Strummer, guitarist of the legendary punk rock band “The Clash”, who sadly died far too early. Perhaps not necessarily known as the classic guitar hero, but certainly one of the most innovative and interesting minds within the British punk movement of the 70s. And who wouldn't know his iconic songs such as “London Calling”, “Rock the Casbah” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go” or enjoy his raw, energetic riffs. This is exactly why he mainly used an unmistakable Fender Esquire, which master builder Jason Smith faithfully replicated in 2021 in an exclusive small series of just 70 units. Every detail was carefully considered: from the aging to the adhesive strip on the body, the sticker next to the ashtray to the Schaller mini tuners. The pickup used is a “Josefina Handwound 55/56”, which simply sounds fantastic. Nice and crisp and wiry, but not shrill or unpleasant. Just the right sound for assertive, distorted riffs! The pickup is wired with the typical Esquire wiring: you get the pure sound at the bridge, the tone pot is added in the middle and the sound is attenuated by a capacitor at the neck. The neck with its rather slim “59 Esquire C” profile plays super slinky thanks to the 9.5” fingerboard radius and 6150 frets. The guitar is therefore not only the ultimate collector's item, but also a lot of fun to play! We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you this iconic Esquire in mint condition with all accessories such as a flight case or custom strap.
