ESP James Hetfield Iron Cross Custom Shop Snow White (2020)

Handcrafted in the ESP Custom Shop in Japan the ESP Iron Cross is a signature series model of James Hetfield, the frontman of Metallica and one of the world's most respected guitarists of all genres. The "Iron Cross" is based on James' personal design and features a mahogany body with maple top and a one-piece mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and 22 Extra Jumbo frets. The characteristic Iron Cross not only adorns the Snow White gloss top of the guitar in an extremely striking way, but can also be found as a fingerboard inlay on the twelfth fret. James' initials are just as attractively emblazoned on the matching front of the headstock. As expected this guitar plays like butter. You just whizz along on the pleasantly flat neck with its "Thin U" profile. This ESP is powered by Hetfield's own "EMG JH SET" active pickups. Punch, punch and even more punch! The aggressive but always warm and never sterile sound that Hetfield likes to celebrate is presented here in its perfection. Saturated sound and an incredibly powerful bite that always remains transparent! Everything from warm ballad sounds like on "Nothing Else Matters" to mid-range riffing like in the best "Load" times to the brutal Thrash sound that you get peppered around your ears on "Battery" is conceivable here. The range covered by these top pickups is truly remarkable. Funnily enough two selector switches have been installed here, but only one of them is actually functional. The upper selector switch with black washer has no function whatsoever and is merely intended as a reminiscence of the original Gibson Iron Cross.
