Atkin Guitars was founded in Canterbury, England in 1995. Since then they have grown from a one-man operation that built a handful of unique instruments each year to one of the leading acoustic guitar manufacturers in the UK. They now handcraft around 350 guitars a year with a constant drive to build the best possible guitar and the aim of creating an instrument with the greatest possible feel, personality and "fire". They take their cue from the classic models to faithfully recreate their look, feel and sound. Such is the case with this "Forty Three," which comes across as both direct and powerful with its larger body shape, but with an easy-to-play shorter scale length. A perfect singer/songwriter guitar equipped with a Sitka spruce top and mahogany back, sides and neck it delivers warm mids, solid basses and is superbly defined. Incredibly responsive! And what this timeless acoustic tone promises is absolutely matched in the look of the guitar. The beautiful vintage finish in 3-tone sunburst, littered with countless hairline cracks, really gives the impression that you have a real old one from the 40s in your hands. ...although we're not sure if one of those would really have the phenomenal sound that the Forty-Three enchants us with. Its medium to powerful neck with C-profile fits perfectly in the hand and plays simply buttery smooth in combination with the shorter scale length of 63.2 cm. This dream acoustic, where the combination of sound, look and playability leaves nothing to be desired, comes to its new owner in mint condition. A guitar for life!
