Gibson Les Paul 59 Collectors Choice CC#4 "Sandy" Prototype #1 (2012)

€19,990 *

“Sandy” - one of the most sought-after Collectors Choice guitars from the Gibson Custom Shop! In 2012 the CC#4 was faithfully reproduced from the 1959 Les Paul with the serial number 9-1228 (owned by Tom Wittrock) and released in an edition of only 50 VOS and 300 aged specimens. However, before this could happen the prototype at hand was produced on the basis of the original, which we are delighted to offer you here. As Tom Wiitrock notes in the enclosed letter, the wood of the maple top (“that is better than the rest of them”) was personally selected by Edwin Wilson, Custom Shop pioneer from the very beginning, and although it is a VOS finish this Sandy is the only VOS with an aged neck back. And yes, as soon as you open the case you are “flashed” by the phenomenally beautiful top. Over the years we have really had numerous Sandys in our hands, but this prototype is probably the Sandy with the most wonderful top: incredible grain, great “Dirty Lemon Sunburst” with an exceptionally authentic VOS patina. In terms of playing characteristics, we are of course also in the top league as the instrument enchants with its comfortable 59-Medium neck profile and a dream weight of just 3615 grams. And the sound of this Les Paul is also a masterpiece! Even when played dry its vibration behaviour is above average and the two Zebra humbuckers transmit it superbly to the amp with great sustain and substance. Clean extremely nuanced and three-dimensional, with distortion fat and smacky. Sandys are pretty rare birds anyway, but you should definitely not miss out on such an exclusive specimen with the highest rarity value in absolute collector's condition.

  • Includes original case, certificate, hangtags, letter from Tom Wittrock
  • Weight: 3615 grams
