Andy Summers, guitarist of the legendary band The Police, is associated with one guitar in particular: his heavily modified 1961 Telecaster, which the musician bought from one of his students for $200 in the early 1970s. This Fender remains his most important instrument to this day. The replica at hand, limited to 250 specimens, is an exact reproduction of this iconic Tele and was also made by one of the most sought-after masterbuilders, Todd Krause, who was mainly responsible for the Andy Summers project. Every paint chip, every crack and of course the sophisticated electronics are just like the original. Played dry it is a typical Telecaster with great vibration characteristics and a fat, woody sound. The sound chameleon comes into play at the amp. At the bridge is a 63 pickup from the Custom Shop, very crisp and snappy with lots of twang. On the neck is a Seymour Duncan SH-1N 59, which delivers fat, Gibson-like sounds. Very warm, round and also offers nice jazzy sounds. In the middle position you can turn the phase thanks to the minitoggle switch. This gives you two sound variants, from classic Tele intermediate position to out-of-phase funk. But there is one more toggle switch on the guitar including a further control. This allows you to switch on a preamp/overdrive and also make specific adjustments using the rotary control. A very good idea, just turn it up for a solo and enjoy the most multi-faceted sounds. Of course the Tele comes with the characteristic Summers neck. However, in order to optimize the playing characteristics the previous owner upgraded the frets to Medium/Jumbos and replaced the nut accordingly (the original frets and nut are included). We are delighted to be able to offer you this very special collector's item in top condition with flight case and all case candies.
