It's often worth having a look around Fender's teambuilt department before spending twice as much on a masterbuilt. Here we have a real highlight that will satisfy even the most demanding fans of powerful Blues and Rock sounds! The first thing that strikes you is of course the wonderfully roasted look, where the term "Super Heavy Relicing" is not too much of a promise. The "Roasted Maple Quartersawn" neck is also an absolute highlight. Not just pleasing to the eye, this neck feels like it has been played for 50 years. In addition, the fat 6100 Jumbo frets, the 9.5" radius and the grippy "Large C" neck profile, which sits fantastically in the hand despite its larger diameter, provide excellent playing comfort. Very dark, select AAA rosewood fingerboard, on which even the dots have been wonderfully aged. The pickups used are Handwound Texas Specials, which show their best side at the amp in combination with the guitar's above-average resonance behavior. If you're looking for powerful, direct and lively Texas tone à la Stevie Ray Vaughan, a little tube creamer and a loud amp will take you to seventh sound heaven.
