Austin MacNutt - a new shooting star in the Custom Shop sky - has really pulled out all the stops on this Stratocaster and created an absolute masterpiece. Rarely have we seen such nuanced and tasteful relicing. Countless hairline cracks, scattered scuffs and paint abrasion in the significant places are all over the beautifully yellowed, partially matte vintage finish in "Olympic White over 3-Tone Sunburst". The guitar's playability is fantastic, offering a super comfortable "60s Style Oval C" neck profile, a 9.5" fingerboard radius, a lacquer-free neck back and the tried-and-true 6105 frets. But the sun really comes up when you hear the Stratocaster's sound. Already extremely resonant dry, it shows its full qualities at the amp. The "Handwound Strat M.D. Ltd." singlecoils, developed by masterbuilder legend John Cruz, provide awesome sounds à la John Mayer. Exceptionally throaty and midrangey, perfect for Blues and Rock. Nice fat and smacking at the bridge. Thanks to excellent percussiveness and crispness also funky singlenotes and chords in the intermediate positions with an extra portion of assertiveness belong to the multi-faceted repertoire of this Strat.
