The white-blonde Stratocaster with golden hardware that left the Fender factory in 1956 was something like the great-grandmother of all nowadays Custom Shop Strats. This instrument, which was put into the hands of guitarist Mary Kaye for promotional purposes, was in fact Fender's first custom-made instrument. And even today the noble look enjoys great popularity. Here we have the interpretation of the "Mary Kaye" by masterbuilder legend Ron Thorn - and we can hardly imagine that the original sounded better! The slightly beefier neck provides a more than above-average resonance and with its "57 Soft V" profile, 12" radius, and 6105 jumbo frets it's also really fun to play. On the amp the Handwound Fat 50s singlecoils provide an incredibly bell-tone that comes across really juicy, both clean and distorted. Smacky and powerful, but also transparent and very defined - it all comes together here! We can't remember ever having had a better "Mary Kaye" in the house. The cherry on top is the relicing and the super light weight of only 3.1 kg. We are happy to offer you this top player in mint condition.
